( NOTE: ** This is still in development, and is in no way complete yet *** ) It replaces quite a few of the sounds in ET, giving an improved war-like experience. It does *not* overwrite any files, and will only be used if the server allows for it. Place this file in your /etmain/ directory. To remove, simply delete it. - Resolution 208. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PART 1 - WEAPON SOUNDS AND AMBIENCE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Weapons: Accurate Thompson SMG sounds Improved Thompson SMG at distance Artillery strikes more 'boomy' close-up Improved Airstrike explosions and airplane sounds Accurate Colt Sound Accurate Luger Sound More variance in the Knife sound FG42 has a nice 'crack' to it now FG42 at distance improved w/echo MG42 has a nice 'pop' to it (RTCW-style) MG42 at distance has improved echo (RTCW-style) MP40 more accurate sound MP40 at distance has a nice crack & echo Panzer explosion improved both local and at distance Satchel Charge improved both local and at distance Sten has a better bite to it Grenades: Improved grenade explosion (debris sounds) Improved grenade bounce on metal (clink/clank) Improved grenade bounce on wood (bonk/clank) Improved grenade explosion at distance (better echo, more subtle) Riccochet: Improved bullet-on-metal sounds Improved bullet-on-wood Sounds Improved bullet-on-stone sounds Improved bullet-on-flesh-hit sounds General: Improved explosions at distance (better echo, richer sound) Improved bullet-casing sounds Improved hard-landing sound (damage-taking fall) Improved underwater sound Improved barbed-wire sound Improved glass-break sounds Improved metal-break sounds Improved vote-notification sound Replaced 2 Minute warning with RTCW versions Replaced 30 Second warning with RTCW and Saving Private Ryan sound Music: Server-selection background replaced with a better song Allied-Win sounds replaced Axis-win sounds replaced ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PART 2 - REPLACEMENT VOICES AND TACTICAL COMMANDS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of the most frustrating things I've found with any online game, is trying to convery to my teammates what is happening on the battlefield. Ever wish you could ask for covering fire? Or tell them to flank? How about warning people there's a sniper? Or warn people of a grenade in the vicinity? Get tired of hearing the same "Medic!" calls over-and-over? ...or, to my RTCW friends, you think the ET voices are just plain silly? Well, you're in luck. We have replaced a whole series of the in-game voice chats with some energetic and exciting voice calls in a variety of accents and languages. We have installed as many as 7 variations of each of the following sounds to give more variance in the game Improved "standard" vsays: v11 - Path Clear v12 - Enemy Weakened (Random taunt) v13 - All Clear v14 - Incoming v15 - Fire In the hole v16 - On Defence v17 - On Offence v18 - Taking fire v21 - Medic v23 - Need backup v25 - need backup v26 - Hold your fire v31 - Follow Me v32 - Lets Go v33 - Move v34 - Clear the Path v41 - Affirmative v42 - negative v43 - Thanks v44 - Welcome v45 - Sorry v46 - Oops v54 - Hi v55 - Bye v56 - Great Shot v57 - Cheer v586- Good game ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now Here's the fun part. New VSAY / VSAY_TEAM commands: OMW (1 sound) "Affirmate, On my way!" << VERY USEFUL! Grenade (6 sounds) "Grenade, take cover!" OpenFire (5 sounds) "Open Fire!" TakeCover (5 sounds) "Take cover!" CoverYou (3 sounds) "Ill cover you!" GotYourBack (2 sounds) "I got your back" BehindYou (2 sounds) "I'm right behind you" LeadTheWay (1 sound) "Leads the way" SMoveIn (6 sounds) "Squad, Move in!" SFallBack (3 sounds) "Squad, fall back!" Ambush (2 sounds) "It's an ambush!" Attack (7 sounds) "Attack!" CoveringFire (3 sounds) "Covering Fire!" Displace (1 sound) "Artillery... Displace!" Gogogo (3 sounds) Lots of good hooting and hollering here SLeftflank (1 sound) "Left Flank!" SRightflank (3 sounds) "Right Flank" Sniper (4 sounds) "Stay put, Sniper!" Mg42 (5 sounds) "Mg-42 nest!" Holdup (5 sounds) "Hold up here" UseGrenade (4 sounds) "use a Grenade" Wounded (1 sound) "He's wounded!" (gives overhead medic indicator too) And a few others i'll let you discover on your own. =) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. TODO ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - German Voice commands like the above allied ones. (in German, too!). On My way/airstrike and 2min/30sec warnings are now done for axis. - Optimization of the voiceover scripts where there are many versions, and now there's only one. - Adding LSOUND capability, so that voice commands are also spoken in the local vicinity (both friendlies and enemies can hear you speak) - Conversion of the Allied-win and Axis-win sounds to mono. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. CHANGELOG ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------ Nov 03 ------ Replaced artillery explosions with a better sound. After playtesting, the close-up artilery sounds needed work. Added a-attack[1-n].wav as part of Fireteam "Attack!" command. Added a-fallback[1-n].wav as part of the Fireteam "Fall back!" command. Changed the accompanying .script file for a 6 map campaign. Made the airstrike airplane a little quieter; was a bit loud. Fixed bug with loading the subsequent 'null' map at the end of the campaign. (had an extra semicolon at the end of the maplist. v583!) ------ Nov 04 ------ Added OMW vsay/vsay_team VoiceChat Replaced EnemyWeak with random taunt (as most people use it in this manner) Added the remainder of the "fun" sounds, including 'work' and 'aaruh?' which were not included in the original RTCW version due to vsay/.voice script item limitations in RTCW 1.4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. OPTIMIZATIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Made /voice/chat/ a common directory for both allied and axis, instead of duplicating the common (fun/taunt) sounds in each directory as per the RTCW version. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6.
